How i got to know cupcakes

Yes, it may sound strange but i didn't know of the existence of cupcakes until i watched Sex and the city. Since i live outside de US i hadn't had any type of contact with those little delicious treasures and the first time i tried a cupcake was at the Magnolia Bakery in New York City last summer.
I know, I was lucky to be able to try them there for the first time, but since I have tasted paradise, it is now difficult not to have too high expectations :)

Wow, I never knew last summer was your first time having cupcakes! What is your favorite flavor? I'm not picky, I like any kind of cupcake but my favorite is with sprinkles on top lol.
I loved the carrot cake cupcake i had last week at the cupcake shop :D it tastes delicious!! So sad it's not usual to see carrot cake here.. well.. better say never.. when i told some friends i loved carrot cake they were staring at me as if i talked about fish cake. hahaha in Germany it is usual but not in Spain :/ and i love it sooo muchhh <3<3<3 especially with frosting on top !! <3
have you ever tried red velvet? i have never? does it taste like vinegar? i read a book which says that they use vinegar to colour the red velvet cupcakes. how did u do it with your red velvet cake?
